I spent 30 years in the aviation industry. anyone with a brain could see that the majors were heading for a fall. All of them wanted to be number 1, be the biggest. Management ran the companies, they ruined them, not the unions. There is not a union hater here that did not take all the money he could get during his working life. Those that say they had their own business, charged every dime they could get for whatever service or product they sold. I find these people to be hypocrits. I always took every penny I earned, it is difficult to believe that some here turned down making money.

Your post is filled with the kind of antagonism that is the cause of many problems in the relationship between company and employee.

Antagonism...Most of my time was with the Federal government, some military and some with an aircraft manufacturer.

Many years ago, when Eastern and Pan American went under, it was apparent that the majors were in trouble.

There is a reason that Southwest has always made money. That reason is, MANAGEMENT, and if management takes credit for making money, then management takes credit for losing money. It is managements JOB to manage their unions. Southwest does very well and they have employees making less than those of the major carriers, they haul people, make money, if a route is a loser, away it goes.
