Iraqis Demand U.S. Withdrawal in Baghdad
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent
Iraqis exercised new freedoms and jockeyed for power in a new era Friday, marching in Baghdad to demand the quick withdrawal of the same American troops and tanks that toppled Saddam Hussein.
"No to America, no to Saddam, our revolution is Islamic," chanted the demonstrators who spilled into the streets after prayers at one 1,300-year-old Sunni Muslim mosque. Tens of thousands of Muslim protesters poured out of mosques and into the streets of Baghdad, calling for an Islamic state to be established.

Maybe we should just knock down all of the dominoes and then leave them to clean up their own mess.
(I don't really see how this could be possible without horrible consequences for the weaker members of their society.)

I like how they say "OUR revolution". Their sorry asses were subjugated for decades by fellow professing Islamists, only to get rescued by a Christian America. Now they think they call all the shots? Bull. Freeing the victimized Iraqis was all well and good, but we had some righteous self-interest there too - and we will leave on our timetable. Ingrates!

The Suni were the priveledged class.

I saw video of a couple exiles who pronounced themselves mayor and governor of bagdad....apparently these simple b@$t@rd$ need another lesson in "Who's In Charge 101".

With the threat of Saddam gone, thousands of Iraqi men pour into the streets looking for the goons who took their manhood away. "We will come for you next, America!" wailed Ali Kassem, "just as soon as we can find our lost testicles!"

A fairly misleading headline. Tens of thousands of Americans have done the same thing, but they are by no means the majority.

My thoughts exactly! If it wasn't for us, they would still be cowered in fetal position somewhere.
On either FNC or MSNBC this afternoon, I heard an Iraqi exile saying that there are definitely "instigators" sent from Iran, and maybe others, that have been directed to disrupt and destroy our efforts there. He said we need to get them taken out.

F***ing morons. I have ZERO respect for that "culture". None.

This should be no surprise to anyone.....
To: whadizit
Yep, heard the same and it isn't just from Iran; other countries too.

The Difference between Sunnis & Shiites in Iraq The Sunnis were favored by the Turkish governors in the Ottoman empire and they now control the wealth in the country. The Sunnis control the Baath Party and the wealth. Although the Shiites comprise 60% of the Iraqui population they are economically oppressed by the Baathist Sunnis of which Saddam favored.
It doesn't surprise me that these Baathist Sunnis want us out.

Another thing that is not helping our image:
I just saw a report on CNNFN (which is international) about U.S. releasing 800-900 prisoners so far after investigations show they are not combatants. Well, after that statement, they go on to show families of Iraqi's who have no idea where their son, husband, father is. They have heard NOTHING from Americans whether they are dead or alive. It was just so sympathetic to these people painting us like the big, bad Americans, again. This report was totally anti-American! It makes me furious! CNN is as much of an "instigator" as any Iranian!

the islamic extremists are a more are a more serious threat to America than Saddam's regime. Yes, because they are like mindless ants: they don't want freedom, they want to be part of islamofascist tyranny.
To: lorrainer
Damn! Now they are saying U.S. is appearing to be out looking for a fight with Syria. This female reporter, an American, is saying how well-behaved Hezbollah has been during this war, but all our officials, Powell, Rumsfeld, Bush have done nothing but yell about Syria!
This is terrible TV!!

Win a brillant Military Campaign and loose the Propaganda War.
But lets keep our pants on. We can get their head right.
MacArthur did it to the Japanese, we can do it to the Iraqi's.
We need CAT HEARDING LESSONS.
