It sucks, doesn't it? I agree with you on the "no ill will," but I have washed my hands of my mother & brother. It kills me, because I've lost all of my other siblings, the latest last year, but I just couldn't take the crap anymore.

Thats sort of what I call my brother.."dads baby boy".

What is hard for us is that we were witness for so long and could do nothing. Like you said thank god we have our own good kids! Lucky for me I got out of the loop a lot younger than you are now. I have not seen brother since 99 at a funeral for our grandmother and frankly that is fine by me.

Good for you! Enough is enough. Walking away really is a testament to your mental health. I've taken a few of those hard walks, too. Guilt tries to creep in, but I keep shoving it out of my mind, knowing that I've done the best thing for myself when no one else seemed to give a damn. If you spent your life giving to the takers, you'd have nothing left for more important things, like your daughter's terrific success..
