Part of the success has to be shared by the lack of opposition by the Iraqi forces. The size of the invading forces (coalition) did a tremendous job for their numbers. As far as this being the greatest campaign in history according to our media, it pales in comparison to Patton's 900 kilometers in ninety days when he left France and invaded Germany.

The opposition fought every step of the way. There was no uncontested territory. We did not have the advantage of air supremacy, the Luftwaffe versus our airforce was about an even contest. Great battles include Salerno, Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, and the Normandy bridgeheads when advances were measured in inches, and not even thought of in kilometers.
