Agree, Bro...here is a case where that entire base should stand up and be counted and defy this illegal and unlawful order! IN fact, these troops ahould form up in Class A uniforms and march enmass into town and down the Riverwalk!

Any commander who isues this sort of disdraceful instruction should be relieved of duty and dismissed from service without pay or benefits...it makes my 27 years of service and two Purple Hearts mere folly.

Likely the reason for the anti US soldier sentiment is that the population in San Antonio is now largely mexican. and most of that population is now largely illegal.

there have been a couple of posts at free republic based on an article in the washington post and reposted in the sf chronicle--that show that Mexican public opinion is against the war in iraq. mainly because the war inspires internal US cohesion and pride which the Mexicans don't like.

a professor of mexican decent at Columbia University has caused a furor for the same reason. he has made a career of advocating the dissolution of the USA and sees a war in iraq--especially a successful war in iraq as an impediment to that goal.
