The Ravenscroft book is invaluable. It opens up a whole new view of some of the inexplicable aspects of Nazism.

Another great biography is Der Fuehrer by Conrad Heiden. It was written while the war was still going on by an ex-Nazi who had turned against Hitler and is the best source for detail about the early days of the party.
