COLUMBUS, OH -- (INTERNET WIRE) Touche France is the response from American consumers toward buying products made in France, according to the Consumer Intentions and Actions survey of over 9,800 conducted by BIGresearch April 3th-10th. Forty-three percent of consumers stated that their attitude toward buying products from France was not to buy, 30.1% said they would buy, while 26.9% didnt know. When asked to state their attitude toward buying products from a list of countries from around the world, France was #1 with 43% of consumers saying they wont buy, 30.1% said they would buy, and 26.9% said they dont know. Following France was Germany, with 28% saying they wont buy, and the third place is Russia, with 23.2% saying they wont buy. The complete list of wont buys by rank is as follows:
Percentage Who Wont Buy Products from Particular Country
France 43.0%
Germany 28.0%
Russia 23.2%
China 17.7%
India 13.4%
Sri Lanka 11.5%
Mexico 11.1%
Japan 7.2%
Argentina 7.2%
Spain 7.2%
Brazil 6.9%
Canada 6.7%
Ireland 4.2%
England 2.8%

Meanwhile, consumers also indicated a change of heart in their shopping behavior, as 37.7% of consumers said they are shopping less at enclosed malls than they did a year ago and only 4% said they are shopping more. Free-standing stores were the big winners, as only 12.2% said they are shopping less and 13.2% said they were shopping more at free-standing stores. 74.5% said the same.
And finally, another sign that the consumer market is ever-changing is the behavior and attitudes of 22.6% of consumers that said they had reordered their priorities in their daily life over the last 6 months and 13.1% said the same for their professional/personal life.
What does this all mean? Consumer behavior is complex; it is clearly influenced by world events and buying behavior can be changed by the issue of security and safety for extended periods of time.

I just found out the product "Frontline," a flea and tick spray for pets, is made in France.

You need to add MCA Records to the list, unless there's been a sale in the last year I'd not heard of (Vivendi-Universal).

I considered brushing this off as nothing really hard evidence-wise.
But wow, it honestly is basically a list of anti-American countries to pro-American countries. Pretty solid evidence actually.
