The daughter-in-law of one of my mother's coworkers came down with SARS, while she was 5 1/2 months pregnant. The woman became so ill and the baby took so much of her oxygen, the doctors had no choice but to deliver her baby.
Despite spending 6 weeks in the hospital and having a tracheotomy, the mother is now fully recovered. The baby, who weighed 2 pounds, now weighs 2 pounds 12 oz. and will probably be released from the hospital in June - near his original due date.
The mother, by the way, is a dental hygienist who caught SARS from a patient who had just returned from an Asian trip.

Maven, that is heartbreaking, but at least both mother and baby survived. I hope for the best for the mother and child.

Thank the Lord that both mother and baby are doing well! They are both in my prayers. Was this in the United States? Are they part of the Florida outbreak?
