Well, the most popular explanation here seems to be to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. I'm not totally sure that I am convinced by this response, but I do trust Bush's judgment in this matter and am therefore willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Well, the most popular explanation here seems to be to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. We should crush, kill, and destroy our IMMEDIATE violent enemies, to be sure (as we are doing). As for the rest of the violent enemies, keeping them close, as at the end of the barrel of an M1A1 tank works for me. As for the "non-violent" enemies, of course other means will suffice. For example, cancelling all PURCHASES from France would seem to make sense.
