Diet guru Dr. Robert Atkins dead at 72

Dr. Robert Atkins, creator of the high-protein, low-carbohydrate Atkins Diet, died Thursday after an accidental fall on April 8 left him comatose.

Atkins, 72, was rushed to New York Weill Cornell Medical Center by his colleague, Dr. Keith Berkowitz, where surgeons removed a blood clot to relieve pressure in his brain on April 9.

His philosophy of loading up on meat and cheese instead of breads, pastas, and even fruits and vegetables, went against the nutritional grain among mainstream dieticians.

Well, I guess that diet plan proved fruitless....

My family has eaten like crap for generations, and have lived past the average death expectancies.

I'm on the diet now. Works great. Lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks, I feel good, not starving. You just have to limit your carbs. We'll see about the rest when I get my physical and blood test.

Real Shame. He didn't get to live to see his diet vindicated in the "establishment". So many tousands now kow the truth that it really couldn't have been much longer and he would have lived to see the day. God Bless, Dr Atkins. Thanks for your work amongst us.
