I always remember a post a freeper wrote some time ago about too many carbs in the diet.
Something like: "You just have to think about what farmers feed their cattle to fatten them up for the market! And it's not protein..."
I know a PhD'd animal nutritionist/scientist (specializes in fattening beef cattle), who every spring and fall goes on a 2 to 3 week "Atkins Induction", cleansing diet and stays away as much as possible from refined carbs the rest of the year (though I've seen him enjoy the more-than-occasional dessert or hot roll). Only, he's been doing it for 30 years or so--way longer than it's been called "Atkins Induction," but as long as he's been in the nutrition field. He says he uses the 2 to 3 week diet as a sort of a "reset button" for his liver and pancreas, so that when does eat the dessert or hot roll, it won't cause as much damage and weight gain as it would otherwise.
