I was just going back over this thread. You asked:

I've seen several Atkins books in the stores. Can someone tell me which is the basic book that describes the system? I don't want to know the science behind it.

I was surprised to see you didn't get an answer. The basic books are that Diet Revolution and his most recent, as I understand. Frankly, I looked at them and was overwhelmed by the size and difficulty of getting the bottom-line.

So I found this site, which may be helpful to you:

Atkins In a Nutshell.

I don't doubt that reading more, and more specifics, would be helpful. But that boils it down. If it's in any way inaccurate, maybe Maven will comment.

Also, I found this site helpful:

Carbohydrate Counter.

Don't know how accurate it is; I am neither a doctor, nor do I play one on TV -- but it is simple!

Dan

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I'll take a look at these books. I have no doubts that the diet works. But I doubt it's a great way to live your life. The thought that a whole leg of lamb is better than a banana is a bit weird, to say the least.
