I'm not so certain about whether we can or cannot use "human shield" as a future cover, but in the worst case two things will happen. One, all those idiots will be looking at each other wondering which ones are "plants" (note to self: try to resist making puns about the human shield have broccoli for brains) and two, any regime they try to help out will probably tell them all go go f**k off.
Sounds to me like at worst we have pulled the plug on the "Human Shield" movement.

OTOH, regarding the Human Shields.... remember when Baghdad Bob had them all rounded up and brought to the Palestine Hotel? Oh I don't doubt that Arabs believe this, I just have a hard time buying it. I suppose it is possible, but most of this sounds to much like conspiracy stuff that isn't based on any actual knowledge.

I'd love to see newscasts that have a truth index attached to them. Imagine hearing Dan Rather say, "The following report is believed to be at least 50% true."

"It was here where the al-Jazeera journalist Tariq Ayyoub was martyred."
The use of 'martyred' in the above sentence is emblematic of this entire screed. Mean, tricky infidels undermined and conquered a secular Arab state. Horrors!
This plays into the hands of the Islamicists who would like to think that: (a) The Arab fighters in Iraq really could have inflicted severe damage on the U.S. forces (if not win), had the treachery had not been involved; (b) A purer Islamic state would not have succumbed to said treachery; (c) The U.S. victory was not linked to military power or strategy.
There are no doubt some kernels of truth here, but that is just lipstick on this pig of a piece.

This has absolutely nothing to do with this post, but I don't want to start a separate thread for this - who was the guy who used to invent those complicated contraptions to perform simple functions like lighting a cigarette? He used ramps and levers and pulleys etc.

While it sounds like a sexy story, I am not sure David Irving's Middle East sources are 'rock solid.' He was trumpeting that Brisith reporter who was denying that the US had taken the airport a few weeks ago. You're thinking of Robert Fisk, whose surname is now a verb.
To "Fisk" someone is to take their written screed and rip it to shreds, disproving it on a sentence-by-sentence basis. The term originatied in the blogger community, because it became something of a pastime.
David Irving is the Brit Twit who says that the Holocaust never happened.

Sounds like a great deal.
