U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth is quietly gearing up for a run for governor.

Republican pundits believe that if Gov. Janet Napolitano doesn't run for a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2006, Hayworth would provide a tough, intriguing matchup for her. The theory is that Hayworth, a congenial conservative, would pose problems for the incumbent governor on several fronts.

"I was campaigning for Salmon & had feedback indicating so on more than one occasion."

What hurt Salmon more than being Mormon was his unwillingness to listen... that is a problem with men who profess the Mormon faith...

"While I like Bob Ehrlich, I wouldn't refer to him as a conservative. He's unfortunately pro abortion. If he weren't, I expect he'd be seriously looked at as a presidential contender in 2008 (assuming he won re-election in 2006)."

The real gem and better half of the team is Michael Steele, his Lieutenant-Governor (and far more Conservative than Ehrlich). I'd swap 'em if I could. :-) Wouldn't it be nice to wake up in early 2011 and see 3 Conservative GOP African-American Governors named Steele, Watts, & Blackwell ? :-)

I'm not familiar with Blackwell. But let's not forget Gov. Rice of CA. :-)

I hadn't heard of that. All I heard was that they stopped counting when he conceded - and at that time, she was only 8,000 votes ahead with about another 11,000 votes to count.

Not to mention the undermining of his candidacy by pro-abort "Republican" women, and other RINOs like Jack Jewett.

Yeah, and as the article indicates, AZ. may be becoming more moderate, but not from where I stand. I see an awful lot of conservative ex-pats leaving California, because of disgust with the "liberal" policies there.
