Another mistake the author makes is that he's trying to hard to win a woman by understanding them and subverting his own identity.

Just be honest. Game-playing, especially if you have strong polticial and religious convictions, will only get you a divorce years later.

If anyone thinks they can "play a fast-one" on the opposite-sex, and then "reclaim" your true-self once you're married and "safe"... the GAME will be on you.

By then time has passed, you're older, and all the good ones are married and attached.

Be patient, Be true. It's the best thing you can do.

Ayn Rand is the reason my political beliefs are what they are.....I read "We The Living" when I was 16 and never looked back.

Are you from Culver City? BH?

I lived in Culver City for three years, but home is now Sherman Oaks.

I did that. All I ended up with is a better appreciation and undersanding of music theory along with a case of tenosynovitis which has made playing the guitar impossibly painful.

I see. Move out to NY. Although there is a Jewish population in Los Angeles, it's much smaller and more spread out then here in NY.

That's about the same time I read her books!

But, I also realized years later, that a strong belief and submission to a Higher Power is not in conflict with being an individual.

Our individuality IS our gift from God.

I married in my early 20's and wish I would have thought about discussing politics. Ignorance of youth I guess. I was aghast to later discover my husband was a dem. Even worse, he ran for city council. Naturally, he's my ex now, and I'm married to a wonderful conservative :)

First off, welcome to FreeRepublic.

A bit of sage advice from Cacique..

1) Have you ever noticed that men wear black at weddings and funerals and bring flowers to both?

2) The three stages of love are:
A) Lust
B) Infatuation
C) Divorce
D) The empty bank account.

I've seen marriages result from such participation time and time again. Hey, it's how I met my conservative wife!! (And she is a fox!!)

Most Conservative Women are Foxes. My wife is an absolute babydoll and she's more conservative than I am.

Semper Fi

p.s. I don't recall ever seeing a liberal "babe". Most were just ditzes parroting what they heard. The women who thought for themselves were 99% conservative in their political outlook.

Is a coke-head or a guy who smokes so much dope that he can barely walk up a flight of stairs an attractive option for anyone? Eventually they´ll see these guys for the waste of life that they are.

Unfortunately for them, not soon enough that they avoid heart-scars. Unfortunately for us, not soon enough that those scars aren't congealed into misanthropism.

"All my friends say 'Just do what you enjoy doing and you'll meet like-minded chicks'. Well, I've been getting stoned and watching Star Trek re-runs for the past two years and no one's knocking."

You owe me a new monitor. Coke does not come off easily.

Well yes if both candidates are abortionists, then they will choose some other factor. But my main contention still stands: since most Republicans are pro-life, abortion is many times the major factor for women in deciding who to vote for. I base this on the fact that I asked my three sisters and my fiancee, one at a time all at separate times, why they were voting for Dems and the first thing out of their mouths was the pro-abortion stand of Dems.

It goes both ways.

If you open yourself to conservative women, you might actually consider women that in the past you would have shied away from.

Too many guys look at the outside and then complain about the inside. Look at the inside, and see what kind of outside you can live with. When the lights go out, it's the insides which matter.

I always thought San Fran would be a GREAT place to meet single women.

It isn't. Replay some of the recent protest videos to see San Francisco's native population of single women in action. Actually, many conservative single men (like me) are here - we work in the city but flee to our suburban homes at night and wouldn't think of actually living here. Many of these guys have been transferred by their employers to SF from other parts of the country, and don't fit the stereotype at all.

What'll practicing banjo get me?

A lot of dirty looks? ;-)

Actually, I do like banjo...especially tenor, which works great with Irish music, which I like playing. I don't play banjo, though...

Speaking of dirty looks, I'm learning fiddle...

While it's true that L.A.'s Jewish population is more spread out, New York's economic and political climate makes it impossible for me to want to live there - even though I have friends and family there.

Even spread out, there are definite Jewish enclaves in L.A. - the Fairfax area, Pico-Robertson corridor, Studio City-Sherman Oaks-Encino-Tarzana, etc.

I am going to leave L.A. in the next couple of years - but I'm heading toward a state with more liberal gun laws and no income tax.

California is like a beautiful prostitute. All pretty on the outside but rotten within. It's residents all focus on the external beauty when they claim it's the best State in the Union.

IMO, it's a nice place to visit, but not to reside.
