Yeah I guess the Russian way is to slug it out with maximum infantry casualties. If this is true think of how many young American men are going home to their families who would otherwise not. Brilliant (if true, and I doubt it...more likely the Generals surrendered when they soiled all their "Depends" from U.S. bombs and ran out of them)

So we bribed them to give up. So what? Does this mean we would have lost had they chosen to fight? No, it means many more of them would have died. That's why they chose the money, because it was better than dying.

Since the Iraqi army was a clone of the Russina (soviet) era military and equipted with similar weapons, this seems more like damage control. If you are any nation in the world whose weapons do you want to buy in order to defend youself? Obviously, the russian products and tactics have not proven themselves on the battlefield.
