Saddam Hussein's favorite TV talking head, CBS multimillionaire Dan Rather, is in a snit over Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's comment that reporters are giving an exaggerated picture of looting and lawlessness in Iraq.
"I try to be an honest reporter, be an honest broker of information. And it's my judgment that if Secretary Rumsfeld had been here, he might have worded that at least in a somewhat different way," Rather complained to fellow traveler Larry King last night on CNN.
And we all know how honest and impartial Dan Rather is ...

"he might have worded that at least in a somewhat different way"Heck, Rummy might not have said anything at all, being the man of action that he is. </ fantasy>

"Faltering forces of infidels cannot just enter a country of 26 million people and lay besiege to them! They are the ones who will find themselves under siege. Therefore, in reality whatever this miserable Rumsfeld has been saying, he was talking about his own forces. Now even the American command is under siege."

The Dan's ratings are down. I'm sure he knows.
Its funny, but he only allows sycophants around him too according to Goldberg's book. Much like a certain dictator. I wonder if this is preventing him from being able to put it together that his ratings are down because people are tired of him siding against the President and his Administration. Probably not.

I try to be an honest reporter, be an honest broker of information.
He succeeded once, but only once:
"I'm an idiot, but that's beside the point."

In otherwords, Rather says he knows more about what's going on with the entire situation in Iraq than Rumsfeld.

Rather probably just heard the ratings numbers showing his network taking a dump as a result of his biased antiAmerican views.
Go FOX kick CBS s butt.

I try to be an honest reporter, be an honest broker of information. This from the one who thinks Bill Clinton "is an honest man".

I am shocked!!! .....NOT!
To: Paul Atreides
Well, Rather told Bill O'Reilly he thought Bill Clinton was an honest man - so apparently he has a different impression of honesty than most.

I keep waiting for Danno's head to explode. I'll have to see the rerun on Fox, since we don't watch CBS.

Rather's ratings are down for the brief period of the Iraq War, but not as much as Petah Jennings. Jennings is down 14% from pre-war, Captain Dan, the Newsman is down about 5%. NBC is up very slightly. Cable, especially Fox, is WAY up.

"Rather complained to fellow traveler Larry King last night on CNN." Dan, poor Dan, you should have registered your complaint to Brit Hume - at least you would have had an audience. He is as clueless as he is irrelevant.

"I try to be an honest reporter, be an honest broker of information. And it's my judgment that if Secretary Rumsfeld had been here, he might have worded that at least in a somewhat different way," Since when is your opinion on the thoughts of another human being "information"?
To: Paul Atreides
I'm sure the feelings are mutual.

I don't know if he said it or not but Christiane Amanpour sure was slanted last night. She had a film clip of the Iraqi street and reported chaos, looting, down with Bush/America protesters, child shot dead, a virtual hell on earth. When asked by Aaron Brown afterwards to explain further she had to admit there were few demonstrators and those just wanted a new government, the looting had calmed down what with the US troops and police out, only a few hot spots, but of course failed to explain if the child was killed by US or Iraqi or sniper fire. Guess which half of her segment will air in France and Germany.
Hey, Dan... What does it feel like to be in the cellar?
Too bad, so sad.
