DFU SONG: Me and You and a Dog Named Boo (the Marine legend of Mojo and Mad Dog)
DFU SONG PARODIES | 4-2003 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

Posted on 04/15/2003 9:17:44 AM PDT by doug from upland

READ THE STORY OF MOJO AND MAD DOG

MIDI - ME AND YOU AND A DOG NAMED BOO

They'll remember that day well…when it all went to hell
The accident nearly took them from the war
But they both said there was just no way…and that they'd fight another day
'Cause after all that is…what they had gone there for

Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Swore a bed ain't where they're gonna be
Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Said they'd soon be back…you will see

They sat down with doc…and told him it's a crock
They had wanted just one shot and they'd head for the door
They're Marines with nads made of brass…who couldn't wait to kick Iraqi *ss
'Cause after all that is…what they had gone there for

Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Swore a bed ain't where they're gonna be
Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Said they'd soon be back…you will see

They were desperate as they could be…they had thoughts of ripping off a Humvee
Resourcefulness is a great thing you learn…in the Corps
No such thing as too steep of a hill…when there's a mission they must fulfill
'Cause after all that is what they…went to that hellhole for

Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Swore a bed ain't where they're gonna be
Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Said they'd soon be back…you will see

Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Swore a bed ain't where they're gonna be
Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Said they'd soon be back…you will see

Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Swore a bed ain't where they're gonna be
Mojo and his pal Mad Dog, too
Said they'd soon be back…you will see

You, of course, remember the guy who originally recorded "Me & You &..." under the name of LOBO - Kent LaVoie.

If you'd like to read more about this obscure artist, MASH THIS!

Me and You sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

Oh, wow! Thanks, buddy! Cool tribute to Mojo and Mad Dog. Always loved that tune, too.

Now if someone will just make the movie ...

Much appreciated tribute. I know my husband would have hated to leave his Marines behind at such a critical moment. This does not surprise me at all.

Best regards,

Mrs. Mad Dog Rodriguez

Yes, I am. We married on June 2nd, 1995, 2 days before he was shipped off to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. We now have 2 boys, Frankie, age 6 and Joel, 5, on June 1st.

Oh, and I sent him a copy of the song today. I am sure he will be honored that you paid tribute to his mission to get back with his "ba@#$rd kids" as he loves to call them.

We are honored to have you here at FreeRepublic. A great big welcome.

I was hoping that someone could actually record the song and perhaps generate some funds for Marine families. Thanks for sending it to him, and I hope he is able to get the music with it.

I hope the kids get to see daddy soon. My son in law is on the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT and my daughtter is a lonely little girl right now on Whidbey Island. The sacrifice made by all of these warriors is something we will never be able to fully repay.

What an honor to have you on this thread. Read the story of your husband and buddy some days ago and sent it to many people to read. What a great story. These are heros!

The honor is mine. It was sent to me by the author of the article. He was embedded with 2/23 for most of the war.

Hello!
Mad Dog (or Joe, as we know him) is in the 4/28/03 issue of US News. We found him pictured in front of Saddam's pad in Tikrit above the table of contents. Needless to say, I depleted all stock of that issue in Pasadena! He is the one on the left side of Saddam's portrait, if you are looking at the magazine :-)

Take care,

Elena
