Why is saying Republicans love cheap labor an "urban myth".
I'm no talking rank and file Republicans (who by and large oppose mass immigration), I'm talking by the Republican money guys and lobbyists who, unfortunately, call the shots on this issue.
Michael Lind once wrote that you can break down how people feel about immigration by one test: Can they afford a nanny?
People who make enough money that they can afford a nanny (and how many of those are here legally?) are much more sympathetic to immigration than those folks who don't.
And the nanny-employer class loves cheap labor.

the nanny-employer class loves cheap labor The myth is that these nanny-employers are Republicans. They aren't. The rich nanny-employers are Democrats. There aren't many rich Republicans, unless you count Rockefeller Republicans, RINOs.
