"I laugh at the gun confiscation thing. Why bother?"

Because, deep down, they are *extremely afraid* of freedom and what a free people might do, so they seek to squash even the tiniest seed of an idea.

The proof of the pudding is the vote. Everytime a vote happens, illegal immigration is the big loser. Tancredo wins with big margins. So we know what the sentiment is out in the electorate.

Paranoid psychopaths never quit!

You're right. Because they know that if people really understood the little plantation lifestyle they have in store for us, the anger would be rather difficult to contain..

No doubt about it. Over the years I have received dozens of GOP issue surveys and up until the last year or so there were always questions about immigration, particularly illegal immigration. The fact that the RNC has scratched such questions is Proof that the GOP no longer wants to hear the opinions of its rank and file concerning immigration. They have a different agenda under Bush and it's all about Open Borders and continued mass 3rd World Immigration.

That's an excellent idea. Much as Ronald Reagan once quipped that he did not leave the Democratic Party--the Democratic Party left him; I feel the same way about the Republican Party. If enough of the GOP rank and file re-registered as independents it would ignite wide spread panic in the offices of the RNC...and the WH.

Not that this would change their One World agenda, but it would force the party to open up much needed discussion on the immigration crisis and other related issues like trade that have been swept under the rug in the name of political correctness. These issues have to be hashed out in the public arena in the upcoming election.

That's exactly how we feel. We didn't leave the Republican party, it left us some years ago.......

I (reluctantly) voted for Bush in the election, kept my mouth shut about my fears so that there would be no chance these fears would cause someone else to not vote for Bush... and I will vote for him again. I have no choice.. the alternative (a liberal Dem.) is too horrible to think about. But the fears are coming true.

I agreed very much with the points you made in your fine post expect for this. You echo a similar sentiment I have heard from many of my conservative friends-- the idea that no matter how far to the left Bush goes, the democratic alternative is far worse.

I used to think this way but no more. Bush through his vast power within the GOP has proven to me that he is every bit as dangerous (maybe more so) than the democratic alternative...sans Hillary and her Maoist crowd.

The loyal conservative opposition to the socialism that the democrats peddle has been largely co-opted by Bush himself through his passage of much of their leftist agenda...without so much as a fight. And on immigration and trade matters Bush's positions are arguably to the left of Clinton! So with the exception of judicial appointment (that is big but it’s important to see how Bush handles this) I don't see the huge downside in not voting for Bush again. Either way, the Beltway Crowd is selling out America and her citizens as fast as they can. Choose your poison.

Finally, if Republican voters continually allow the GOP to run one RINO after another because of fear mongering that the democrats are worse (which the GOP does so well) NOTHING will EVER change in the republican party.

It's come down to that for me. As long as the democrats don't put forth a Marxist for president (and many of them are) I'll cast my vote for a 3rd party conservative candidate.

And I have to say that I am perplexed that there has been no major 3rd party challenge mounted so far given the very serious and growing domestic problems in our country. You'd think that the times would be quite favorable for a 3rd party maverick who has the vim and vigor to take on the status quo that is busy destroying the American Dream.

In fact, there are going forward with the unsafe truckers, the 'professionals' being able to come here.

Mexico isn't the only country being allowed to flood us with their so-called "professionals". I read recently that by 2004 Chile and a few others are going to be able to do so as well. And we know the list of countries will keep expanding with the free trade agreements.

Another poster mentioned needing a translator to go see a doctor, and he's dead right, it's just a matter of time.

It is just a matter of time - for our very safety, we all need to learn Spanish, because nothing, nothing is going to be done.

There are some who post on here that really want to be touch-feely and need someone to whom they can feel so benevolent and superior and continue to be oh so caring. Then there are those who know better and are aiding and abetting our politicians in this destruction of America. One is just as dangerous as the other.

As a Spanish-speaking former resident of LAlaland, I can witness the accuracy of your impression. Not only was the local Telemundo Newscasting many cuts above the local network trash and what passes for national news in this now dumbed-down excuse for a republic, but it did enable one to occasionally see what was on the minds of the neighbors.

What is on the mind of recently arrived hispanics is a sense of entitlement which must be felt to be believed. This feeling has nothing whatsoever to do with legality, or illegality. Our hispanic neigbors not only "feel" that they absolutely belong here, but that, since somehow it "belonged" to them, it should "belong" to them again. Naturally, it is the "Anglos" who do not "belong!" In fact, LA slang for an American is " huero" "foreigner!"

We are dealing with an extremely hardy hybrid of Islamic Latin, Indian, and Spanish (Northern European Barbarian Visigoths and Vandals) cultural and racial elements. Throw in Jungle Catholicism, and the mix gets very heady indeed. It's frankly more than a match for our now insipid, Caspar Milquetoast American Protestant Culture. It will not integrate, but rather naturally seek to dominate.

Recently, a major American Corporation with 15,000 employees, in an anomalously thriving part of our disintegrating manufacturing base, hired a training class of 300 youths from a midwestern town. The training consisted of "Work-hardening," "Time Discipline," "Safety," "Shop Math," and all kinds of handy stuff. The pay was $15/hr, and within two years, they could make $25/hr. Great benefits. Overtime. A full time employee can easily make $50Thou/yr. They wanted young employees who would stick with them.(And incidentally help keep the outfit non-union.)

It did not work. Within 6 months from the end of training,, only 50 were left(some still are two years later, thank god). 120 kids QUIT within 60 days of the end of their paid training! The company soon went back to hiring their usual "Temps," usually mature people whom they limit to 1500 hours/yr at $13/hr with no benefits, but who keep the place running. Except now, many of the temps are illegal Mexicans of the same age as the American kids who blew it. They are hired through a temp agency in which the corporation holds 40% of the stock! They are a great deal for the employer! No union. No benefits. Reliable.

Our kids (HS Grads for the most part) had good native intelligence, but there were many drug takers. Uniformly they were unable to shape up on time and ready for real work, and they knew absolutely nothing of a practical nature (i.e. tool use, measurement, reading instructions, etc.) Pathetic. The largely illiterate Mexican kids are supervisable (althought they need more), master the tasks faster, ride BIKES to work, and are more or less on time.

The point of this diatribe is that if you want YOUR kids to succeed, inculcate the work ethic, at the end of a stick if necessary, keep them off drugs, get them educated in a school you trust and participate in, and by all means, make'em learn Spanish. They'll need it to supervise (or Christ forbid, be supervised by) the migrating and fast-breeding hordes who are turning this country into another Spanish Speaking part of the new world.

The demographic is such, that if we were to close the border tomorrow, it would only take a little longer to go majority hispanic. Adios and circle the wagons.

PS, someday the African Americans will notice that this disturbing trend is putting them even lower on the olde commercial totem pole.
