The behavior was inappropriate. Was it sexual harassment? My guess is no. What should be asked is whether a girl making a similar gesture to a boy would be faced with the same charges. If not, then there is either a double standard or it is clearly not sexual harassment.

Making a public example of a trivial offense is a very effective intimidation tool.

I think the real inappropriate behavior is to penalize little boys for being boys.

And its especially inappropriate to be teaching little girls that they hold such power over other children, especially boys, that by simply screaming "harassment" you can ruin someone's life.

That's modern "feminism".

The behavior was inappropriate

What in the world would make the behavior inappropriate, 12 year old boys have been sticking there toungs out at 12 year old girls for hundreds of years.

If any thing it would seem a restriction of the little boys right of free speech to react to the rejection.
For instance I don't see how asking someone for a date in the work place and getting turned down, then saying SH*T out loud qualifies for sexual harrasment.

Boy sticks out Tongue, is Suspended

Making a public example of a trivial offense is a very effective intimidation tool.

An effective indoctrination tool.

Psychologist Karen Gold said it is not only important that students receive sexual harassment training in the sixth or seventh grade, but that they understand it, as well.

"There's a question mark: Was the lesson properly taught and learned?" Gold asked. "There's also a question here of the punishment fitting the crime."

This article does is good for exposing the indoctrination that takes place in public education. Children should be taught thinking skills. How to use their minds to identify pertinent pieces of information and bring them together into a context where they can then make assessments and judgments and from there create a plan of action. A twelve years old the girl should already have the thinking skills to put across to the boy that with that type of immature behavior most girls will turn you down, and for good reason -- grow up."

Of course, along with having been taught effective thinking skills comes other insights to good quality character development and thus it is improbable that they boy would have acted as he did.

Think about it, "student should be taught sexual harassment training", what sort of moronic PC bile has so defiled the education of children that sexual harassment training would ever enter picture let alone a bureaucrat's mind.

It's not abut the children. It's about the bureaucrats and politicians creating problems where none need exist in the first place. Creating boogieman problems so they can feign compassion and proclaim to make things right as a means to establish their job security.

However, they have built a house of cards based on their own fabricated illusions. There is no problem. Save for the problems that they themselves created, which is their house of cards.

"But at 12, kids have no business going out on dates or anything. They should be studying."

On Friday night and or Saturday night I could usually be found with my girlfriend. Many of us in our group were the same. Friday night is not study time. It is the time that the school-work week is over and time to spend on your own interests. It has always been like that.

I remember a case a few yrs. ago in SC where a 7-yr.-old boy gave a peck on the cheek to a girl and he was suspended for a week for sexual harassment.
