Just a bit higher It's smart not to pick a fight with someone who will really hurt you, unless it's life or death. I read somewhere some quotes from some Marines that they could not believe the tactical ineptness of the Iraqis they faced. They said it was like they had no officers, and the ones they did have couldn't do anything right.

Regarding apparent Iraqi ineptness.

(1) they don't/didn't train well, so they couldn't fight well.
(2) they had far inferior situational awareness, and were severely handicapped when they could command.
(3) their command and control nature is about management and control, not leadership and initiative. they were doomed in fast omving comabt actions.
(4) we had beeter tactics/weapons/comms, etc., etc.

Exactly. It's not all technology -- not even close. In firefights, or duking it out with snipers, having superior air power and armor matters a lot less. Many times, it just comes down to who is more tactically skilled, and that's training.
