Quite simply, all the doctors in the country sign a pledge that they will never provide medical treatment to a trial lawyer. Never again, no matter what the circumstances.
Sick lawyers will be offered a straight up-or-down choice: resign permanently from their parasitic "profession", or die.

Nope. Doctors would be sued, successfully, for an anti-trust violation were they to sign such a pledge. Triple damages.
The article is correct. A lot of physicians are working to put enough away so they can retire early. Already there are shortages in some specialties, which will get worse because the newer generation of docs don't want to work as many hours. In addition, about half of physicians are women, and more and more women just quit medicine to raise kids...more specialists out of the pool.
I love medicine, but I have put enough away so I can quit when I judge the hassle is no longer worth it. That day is drawing closer...
