A 1985 study of 1109 lesbians by Gwai-Yong Lie and Sabrina Gentlewarrier reported that slightly more than half of the respondents indicated that they had been abused by a female partner. A report by the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs indicates that of 3,327 domestic violence cases self-reported among homosexuals in 12 U.S. cities in 1997, about half involved lesbian, bisexual and transgender women. In other words, only about a third of all lesbians that are considered to "regularly use alcohol," use alcohol once a week or more. And overall, two-thirds of all lesbians either don't drink at all, or drink less than once a week. My God, what decadence. What self-destructive behavior.

Interestingly, if you go back and look at the statistics for 1984 (the year of this study), you'll find that this is slightly lower than the percentage of women smokers in general (33%).
