As a Catholic maybe I should know this - But out of curiosity, what is the typical response/consequence/punishment if a priest has a sexual relationship with a consenting adult female (over 18)and is caught doing that? Does he get the boot? Anyone out there have an opinion on this or know the answer?

Depends on how flagrantry the priest was behaving, and the attitude of the local bishop.
