80 Iraqi Suicide Vests May Be Missing
By NICOLE WINFIELD .c The Associated Press
CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar (AP) - Up to 80 explosive vests - the kind used for suicide attacks - could be in the hands of foreign fighters battling U.S. and British troops in Iraq, a U.S. general said Monday.
U.S. forces, which found about 300 explosive vests in a massive Baghdad cache last week, now believe 80 others were taken from the stockpile before it was discovered, U.S. Brig. Gen. Vincent Brooks said at a U.S. Central Command briefing in Doha, Qatar.
The vests, filled with explosives and metal bearings, were found in a Baghdad school on Thursday. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld had previously said about 30 of the vests were missing, and an AP reporter who visited the scene over the weekend saw empty hangers, indicating that vests had been taken.
Brooks said the foreigners fighters defending Saddam Hussein's dying regime appeared to be well armed and remained a threat even though coalition troops now control most of Iraq.
``Where we do find them, they're well armed,'' Brooks said. ``We think that some of the explosive vests were meant for them.''
Brooks said he couldn't tell how many foreign fighters had come to Iraq to fight coalition forces but that many were from Syria. On Saturday, a Marine at a checkpoint in Baghdad was killed by a gunman carrying Syrian identity papers.
``These volunteers claim that they are here in Iraq to protect the Iraqi people, but the Iraqi people continue to inform us that they don't require such protection,'' Brooks said. ``We don't have a good number as to how many there are, but we do know that they don't have a place in the future of Iraq.''
Rumsfeld has said Syrians have accounted for the largest share of foreign fighters that U.S. troops have faced in Baghdad. There were also reports of fighters from Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Yemen and the breakaway Russian republic of Chechnya.
``Even though there's not organized regime resistance, there are individuals who may be willing to carry on acts of violence and acts of terrorism,'' Brooks said.
Coalition forces in Baghdad were hunting down foreign fighters as well as the remnants of the Iraqi regime with the help of ordinary Iraqis, he added.

On hangers! What is this, Iraqi Fine Men's Clothiers? It's a lucky day when my suit gets draped over a chair, and these barbarians place bomb vests on hangers! Geesh!

The French who designed and made these vests are really good at marketing them to Islamokazis.
They know that if they are hung on hangars, they will make it easier for the Islamofacists to sell them to the pond scum Islamokazis.

Those of us here at Pi Kappa know very well the joke. The term ALL YOUR (fill in the blank) ARE BELONG TO US can be used on either reference. It can be "our" side, or "thier" side in relative speaking.
See, the point here is that all their vests are not belong to us. And so that is a sobering thought as it presents a danger to our troops, to innocent Iraqis, to others.
Our troops are in immediate danger, no matter where those vests are. I personally would be more worried of an RPG (rocket propelled grenade) aimed at me.

80 Iraqi Suicide Vests May Be Missing So?
What's your point?
Those are missing from the cache found.
The supply is unlimited.
Maybe we should just forget the war on terrorism because they might *GASP* be used...?

FUNNY COMMENT! All your vests are belong to us. LOL

Up to 80 explosive vests - the kind used for suicide attacks .... I wonder how many kinds of explosive vests there are? After all these years of hearing about homocide bombers, I would hope that the reporters' audience would understand what an explosive vest is.
OTOH, maybe explosive vests with ball bearings is a homocide vest, and explosive vests without ball bearings is a PLO chastity belt?

Wonder if one would find, upon examination of the remaining vests, that they could be set off by a sufficiently strong microwave burst or radio signal.
Any hobbyists out there with the marines? 80 "work accidents" at the same time might make pretty good fireworks :).
