Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!
Featured Freepers: An.American.Expatriate for originating the threads, Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...
Thank you for your full answer. That will help the next time it comes up. I did use this snipped argument when I spoke with him... that it would be tough to get anyone to volunteer to perform a mustard gas suicide attack. But you have several other good points as well. Thank you. I didn't realize the first WTC bombing had chemical agents. Man, the more we learn, the creepier it gets. I agree we will find WMD... I think we already have, but we're keeping it under wraps for now. My friend asked me why we wouldn't tell the world as soon as we found WMD. I explained my opinion that it would put our troops at greater risk, etc. But also, it's like a murder trial: you don't know what the prosecution has for evidence until the trial starts. I believe we are amassing a ton of evidence right now, and the "truth" will come out. Also, as I mentioned before, my background is in Environmental Consulting, so I do know it takes time to perform chemical analyses. Yes, the tests can be "rushed" but even then, it would take a few hours for the result after the sample reaches the lab. I worked on small contamination sites, and it would take us anywhere from a day to a week to collect all the samples and document everything, and get the samples to the lab. Then it takes another day for the lab results... much more if you're testing dozens or hundreds of samples. We've only been there for 3 weeks. It would take us that long just to investigate and report on a simple gas station cleanup. And that is nothing compared to warehouses packed full of chemical drums. So even if the first couple of tests have come back positive for WMD, there's no way the Govt would go public with it until it has been verified, probably in triplicate, and all the QA/QC has been covered, proper chain-of-custody, sample location maps, photo documentation, etc. It's only been 3 weeks, and we've been a little busy fighting a war. Our sampling/investigating teams probably didn't even get into most of these suspected sites until the last couple of days... I wouldn't want to be collecting samples as bullets were flying over my head. :-) I just wish the media understood what it takes to do an investigation of this type. Then they might realize it's not something that can be "proven" the moment we find the first chemical drums. (Silly me!)
Amom: I think I heard a bit about this on FoxNews tonight...said it was Ap 2nd fwiw.
The FoxNews mention was only confirming that the F-18 shot down on 4/2/03 was blue-on-blue. Blue-on-blue (Frinedly fire) was suspected from the get-go, but was not confirmed until recently (or else FoxNews is recycling old news as though it is new).
The Brit Tornado's transponder was off or inoperable IIRC. I haven't heard any details re: the F-18 incident (F-18 lost), or the F-16 incident (f-16 won), where the Patriot battery painted the aircraft.
I agree with you, the system needs to be improved. It will be, you can count on it.
I'm surprised the marines haven't shown up to break it up, so it doesn't get ugly!
Oh I'm sure, these other liberal news media are ferreting out the worst of the worst to make GW look bad, they always do, but no amount of good news ever overshadows their small amount of BAD news, unfortunately!! What the heck do they want our soldiers to do, they are still fighting a war & snipers & terrorists!!
