Could we keep it open as an interactive news room?

Maybe something like that?

We could always start the 'Syria' war thread. Or the 'French' war thread. Or the 'Russian' war thread. All possibilities. Or the online memorial service to Baghdad Bob.

I think we should keep the Situation Room...at LEAST as long as CENTCOM is doing briefings. Once all the troops come home, then it'll be time to start

The thread says: Oym not dead!

I know I'm sounding like a broken record (anyone remember those :-) -- but has anyone heard any current news about Al-Qaim?

It ain't over 'til it's over, and I'm still wondering why they were/are fighting so hard there. Have we taken it? Have we had a look around?

The Interactive News Room sounds good. Is this the last night for the situation rooms?

Here is a Google News search on "Qaim"; the most recent story is from two hours ago.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record (anyone remember those :-)

I was at a yard sale last year and someone was explaining to a kid of about ten what a record player was.

I suddenly felt very old.

I suddenly felt very old.

At a thrift store, about three years ago, my daughter (then about 12) came running up with a box of 45s she'd found. "Dad," she said, "look at these funny CDs!"

That was worse for my "age identity" than the old line from "Thirty Something": "You know you've hit middle age when you become invisible to 18-year-old girls"...

Oh, great timeline in your post 973! Thanks.

But wasn't there a report that B-Bob was at the hotel on the morning after the bombing collecting money from the journalists? And that he managed to get $200,000 out of them before he took off for Syria too?

Well, wherever he is, either dead or sunning himself on the shores of Syria, he was one of the "deadenders" (Rummy's great phrase) and had no future in the New Iraq!

Read back a few for my thoughts. Nobody has responded as yet. I'm suprised.

Yup, this thread has become one of the memorable threads of FReeper History. Think about it. How many, many new FReeperisms have come to be on this very thread. Some going on to Nat'l/Int'l use !! The regulars on this thread are the ones that know the EXACT beginning of each and every one of them. Can we ever forget the "This Old Bunker Weekend Marathon" with Achmed Vila and Norm Habib? We watched and commented throughout it's entirety. What a memory ! What an experience we shared. All the prayers. All the belly laughs and sprayed screens/keyboards galore.

Call it the " Rebuilding Iraq " thread
