Upon seeing his "surrender" on television, I wondered, "Why did he demand a German news video crew tape the surrender?" and "Why did he surrender if he isn't going to provide any information?"

It may be that this he is his public statement so as to protect himself and his family. He may still be afraid that they could be hunted down later (mafia style). Hopefully off the cameras he says all.
