NewsMax.com's religion editor Fr. Mike Reilly has the latest on the bizarre behavior of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il.
If you thought King Herod was bad in slaughtering the Holy Innocents, wait till you hear what Kim Il Jong has been up to lately.
Australia's Herald Sun is reporting that the North Korean dictator is seizing all triplets and placing them in orphanages, because he believes that a triplet is destined to overthrow his regime.
North Koreas official reason for the policy is to help impoverished parents care for their children.
"Triplets are supplied by the state free of charge with clothing, bedding, a one-year supply of dairy products and a preschool subsidy, and special medical workers take charge of such mothers and children and care for their health," Pyongyang told the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva.
Of course that doesnt explain why triplets born to high-ranking officials are also seized. Actually, the number three is a lucky number to Koreans and triplets are revered as people who will rise to positions of power and influence.
"There is no doubt that the policy is compulsory and universal," a veteran Western diplomat told London's Daily Telegraph newspaper.
If you think that the UN is going to be asking questions, dont hold your breath.

Sorry for the crudity, but this guy's batsh!t. Nuts. Over the top. A refugee from a rubber room. Talking to the walls and hearing them answer. When we do finally get a look at what's been going on inside that poor Godforsaken country it's going to make Pol Pot's Kampuchea look like a day care school.

There was a slight mistranslation on the part of the fortune teller of the crystal ball, it didn't mean a triplet would end his reign, it meant a cluster would.....

Wow. If this turns out to be true, it is THE devastating counter-argument to any suggestions we treat with the NKs as if they have a rational government. Kim is a mad hatter with a state's resources. He has to be contained, not reasoned with.

Maybe someone should tell him it will be a troika, not a triplet. Let him get nutsy with the Russians instead of the babies.
To: Hugenot
The triplets he needs to fear is Bush, Rumsfeld, and Franks.

Batshit works. It is amazing that in this day and time that there are regeimes capable of such repression. One shudders to think what the global human status would be if the Us would have been taken out of the mix 5 yrs. ago, 10, yrs., 15 yrs., extrapolate back and one comes to the conclusion that we are the keepers of humanity. We are here and care enough to protect our concept of civilazation, but can you conceive what it would be like if we were not in the mix. Turn your protoplasm over to the tides of hell. How low can man go? I don't think we have seen the bottom of the hole. We as a nation must continue to reach out and try to cajole and drag, when necessary, the rest of humanity forward.

In case you didn't finish the story.. Herod failed.
Prior to this I was inclined to believe Kim Jong was willey and intelligent, rattling his saber to get a place at the table with the big boys.
If this is true (and it's News Max, so anything's possible..) then he's obviously a nutcase who would use nukes arbitrarily.
Anyone who would do this, would likely also start world war three over something as simple as tea leaves or stepping on a crack in the sidewalk.

PS: If he's this superstitious.. It's a real shame there's not a way to capitalize on it.
Tell him the chicken entrails foretell of a revolt by all of his top military personnel. They must be destroyed, as they are evil and scheming behind his back!
Tell him he can't trust China, and an invasion by the neighboring giant is emminent.. It's been seen repeatedly in the sacred lime deposits, so it will come to pass! Or something equally ridiculous.

Kim Jong-Il fears tripletts, kidnaps Asian movie stars for personal entertainment, and is the ruler of a religious-nationalist-communist semi-monarchy.
It is so reassuring to know that he has 2-5 nukes, plus chemical and bio-weapons and thousands of artillary pieces aimed at Soeul.
Detterence and all other IR theories are based on the presumption that all parties are rational actors. I think we can through these out in this case.
