As printed in TV Guide:
CHEERS to fine journalism on (or near) the front lines. Of special note: news vet Peter Arnett on MSNBC, ABC's bright young up-and-comer Richard Engel and CNN medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta, who maintained his composure as he watched a frontline surgical unit operate on a critically injured Iraqi POW.
As posted on line today:
CHEERS to fine journalism on (or near) the front lines. Of special note: ABC's bright young up-and-comer Richard Engel and CNN medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta, who maintained his composure as he watched a frontline surgical unit operate on a critically injured Iraqi POW.

Yes - but not enough integrity to post him in the Jeers section!

Excellent!

It's amazing to me that mainstream journalism is so biased that a TV Guide can't even be published without this kind of anti-American leftwing crapola.

Good point.
It Seems that TV Guide was busy this week. They had an article comparing Hitler to Bush too. Click here

Please.
Those rocket scientists at TV Guide think "Will and Grace" is profound stuff.

Just one of the reasons I no longer subscribe. Besides, what's the point when the tv is on Fox all day, anyway? LOL

True. See post 7. I was livid when I read the comment from CBS executive producer, Ed Gernon in which he compares many Americans' acceptance of a war in Iraq to the fearful climate in post-World War I Germany, of which Hitler took advantage to become its ruler. He said, "It basically boils down to an entire nation gripped by fear, who ultimately chose to give up their civil rights and plunged the whole nation into war. I can't think of a better time to examine this history than now."

Freepers might want to cancel their subscription to the leftwing TV Guide and send half of their savings to Free Republic.
Monroe DNA has posted a great testimonial for Free Republic as a vanity.
If you haven't read it, please go read it.
If you have read it or read it now, please bump this great testimonial with your bump lists.

Perhaps the Guide went to print before the Arnett escapade? And then the line was missed in proofreading?

Arnett? What about their praise of Richard "Pretty Chicken" Engel? That's just as laughable.

I'm sure that is the case (or something like that). The real laugh is that the ever thought that Arnett deserved a Cheer.

Not really. They KNOW that the majority of the people who would object to or catch them giving Arnett such a stupid honor would read the online version of their magazine and NOT the print version. They just tried to outsmart us and failed yet again.

And the award for doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons (or is it the other way around?) is CNN's Eason Jordan who yesterday in the New York Times explained why his network has had a bureau in Havana, Cuba all these years...
To: TankerKC
People who write for TV Guide only know TV. The problem is that they don't know that they only know TV.
To: TankerKC
I am not sure why anyone still needs to subscribe to TV Guide to see what is on TV anymore -- havent they heard of newspapers and the internet? -- but out of curiosity I accessed the full web story of TVG's Cheers and Jeers.. and I have only one reaction:
Are they on the same planet as the rest of us??
Not one mention of Fox News... not one mention of Arnett's treason and not one mention of the brave embedded reporters from all networks who were traveling with Army and Marine units in the dash from Kuwait to Baghdad...
But they take time for a special "Cheer" to ABC for going ahead and televising the Ocsar Awards????
I mean, how can anyone take this amateur, leftist outfit seriously??

The lack of a mention for Fox News is actually is why I looked on line. I was going post that they forgot to mention Fox, then I noticed that the Arnett reference was remove from the on line version.
