It it doubtful that sending over a tank and a few soldiers would have put the whole war in jeopardy. They should have planned to guard this museum from the get go. This is a loss of the culture and history of the people of Iraq and of the world. Don't try to gloss it over. We screwed up.

I'm not sure if it's totally our fault, however, what did we think would happen when all the law was gone? Did we think they'd sit in their homes and await further instructions? I hate to say this, but we took this on and we should have been more prepared.

I have doubts about this story. We keep hearing about how the Iraqi resistance just "melted away". I think that some of them are still in town ready to foment discontent at every opportunity.
