RE #2

I suggest every checkpoint in Baghdad is manned by an armored vehicle with a machine gun mounted on the top.

It might also be prudent to limit exposure to one guard at a time! Why are the murderers consistently given the opportunity to blow up groups of Americans? If the animals were limited to one causality per atrocity, maybe their attraction to asymmetrical tactics could be diminished.

I had a thought about attachng an obstacle to the barrel of a tank, then raising and lowering the barrel to allow cars to pass. Do the whole stop from on top with weapons ready.

Use dozers or whatever you can find to funnel traffic to the obstacle. Anything that tries an end run get's destroyed.

Why don't they make the checkpoint guys wear the demolition/explosive specialist's clown suit. The big shrapnel catcher suits? Checkpoints are de facto minefields.

I suggest that Robert Fisk and Peter Arnett be drafted by their respective British and American Governments and be assigned checkpoint duty while Marines provide cover for them behind bunkers.
