"If we do, we're going to end up on a slippery slope to non-ending military conflicts. We can't let that happen,"
Interesting words from the Russia leader.

What's he going to do about it?
He can't control Chechnya.
He and Russia are irrelevant.

They are trying to use containment against democracy...interesting.

Putin made a large mistake. He's now stuck with the Germans, French and bombast. The Russians have been shocked and awed just like the Arabs has.
Look for russian defense spending to double in the next 5 years if you don't believe me.

Because we might have to export capitalism and democracy to Russia . . . again. Apparently it hasn't taken very well.

So, Rootin', Tootin', Putin uses the ol' "bait & switch" technique to get some attention and try to pull his gronicles out of the fire. Won't work, patootie.

Putin should have stayed in bed with Bush. He had an ally who would have helped develop the Russian economy, deal with the Russian mafia, hold onto Siberia, and probably eventually help control Chechnya. Putin blew it.

"We are not going to export capitalist, democratic revolutions," No, Russia is still thinking about exporting communism.
"If we do, we're going to end up on a slippery slope to non-ending military conflicts. We can't let that happen,"
This coming from the country that started conflict after conflict trying to communize the world.

The Russians have some good equipment scattered throughout their arsenal (Sunburn missiles, Kornet ATGMs, Sukhoi fighters, etc.) but they will never be a match for the American military again. Combined arms on today's battlefield against the U.S. demands that technology, training, morale/motivation and logistics some together under lethal and fast-moving circumstances. The Russians have glaring holes in all of these fields.
On top of the above, the population of Russia is now ONE HALF that of the U.S., dropping precipitously, and in far worse health. Rather than antagonizing America, Russia would be far better off aligning with the U.S. and India against China, which is primed to steal much of Russia's most valuable territory.
I think that Russia will eventualy try to form a new Soviet Union along with Belarus and a few other former Soviet Republics, but Russia's muslim problem in Chechnya/Kazhakstan, the expansion of NATO into the former Baltic republics of the USSR and Ukraine's desire to keep Russia at arm's length will prevent a truly powerful USSR from re-emerging.

We will do what is right, Mr pooting, just as we did this time, and we will never again stand by as monsters torture and intimidate innocent people.
Stalin did it, Hitler did it, Mao did it, Castro did it, and Saddam did it too, for too damn long. We have at last learned that ignoring the sonovabitches of the world as they abuse and intimidate their betters, avails us nothing. It merely emboldens the tyrants to the point that they have delusions of being more powerful than free people. THose idiots are advised to profit by their stupid mistakes of recent vintage and throughout history. Mess with us, and your ass is ours!
Iraq shall be free to rule it's own destiny. The Coalition did not remove the Baathless bastards party and it's filthy leader, just to make room for other tyrants.
Go ahead, France, Russia, Germany, United socialist Nations-make our day, Punks!

We not going to attack anymore countrys for now; there is way too much momentum, so, you let their people revolt by using plants to rile up the citizens.

""We are not going to export capitalist, democratic revolutions," the Russian leader told reporters"
But it's ok to export communist, facist, genocidal dictatorships according to Putin. I hope you enjoyed your one and only barbeque at the ranch. You won't be coming back you red b*st*rd.
