I believe the cross burning decision singled out a "political expression" for the first time.

You are right. This is the absolute worst decision in recent memory. This sets an extremely dangerous precedent regardless of how one feels about cross-burning.

If the political symbols of white separatist/supremecy movements can be banned, then the symbols of black separtist/supremecy can be banned as well. While I find them all to be repulsive, they are indeed POLITICAL SPEECH which is sacrosanct in my view. Interestingly enough the court holds the moronic view that PRURIENT SPEECH (e.g. Larry Flynt) is sacrosanct. What a ******-up view of free speech!

Thanks...I'm rather suprised I got thru this thread unscathed after that offhand remark.

It's pure slippery slope stuff to me....and we all know how hard it is to reverse precedent.

Lighting a cross precedes the Klan's infamy by about 1800 years.
