Actually aculeus, the more I read this article the more I see it as complete BULLSHIT.

I'm sorry, but this author knows NOTHING of Ireland, and her grass roots people. You must remember that Bertie Ahern (as much as I dislike him) is An Taoiseach, and while he is a dithering fool, he is also the leader of Fianna Fail (a very 'republican' per se, party), and it was HE (not the socialist Labour Party) that kept Shannon open to US troops, despite the second UN resolution.

I really think this author is clouded in both his judgement and reasoning on this one.
