Here's a snip from an account of Costner's encounter with Castro, at a 2001 screening in Havana of the film "Thirteen Days", which Costner produced and had a supporting on-screen role in.

'Though Costner did not attribute a specific political agenda to his visit and claimed to be "unqualified" to make political judgments about Cuba, he was clearly moved by his encounter with the Cuban President. "It was an experience of a lifetime to sit only a few feet away from him and watch him relive an experience he lived as a very young man," Costner said at a press conference on April 11th at Havana´s elegant Hotel Nacional. "We all live in this world, and we all recognize Cuba is a big player although it is a small country," he said. "My interests aren't as political -- my life has been chosen to make films. You know what's interesting about this list? Most of these actors are either out of work, or long past their prime. Bonnie Franklin's against the war? That's really going to sway a lot of people! But there are two names that I was disappointed to see on the list:

55: Ed Harris

This one saddens me to agree with. Perhaps I have given Ed too much credit for his roles Apollo 13 and The Abyss, and not enough credit for pontificating garbage like The Stepmom. I hoped he'd have learned something about character from playing Gene Kranz, but he hasn't.

101: Tony Shalhoub

This one saddens me, too, for similar reasons. My favorite character in Galaxy Quest was Tech Sgt. Chen.

While I don't know for certain what 'bullying' Bikers4Bush was referring to, when I read his post, the 'bullying' conduct that immediately came to my mind was Robbins rabid public campaign against foreigner and non-SAG-member actress, Elizabeth Hurley in Oct 2000:

This Baseball Hall Of Fame flap is about Robbins no getting to be the star of a big party...boo-hoo.....in the case of Ms. Hurley, Robbins went after and try to destroy her very livelihood!!!!

Robbins feels righteous in trying to destroy someone who inadvertently acted against his one of his causes yet he screams bloody murder The Baseball Hall Of Fame merely opts to distance themselves from his seditious rhetoric.

First off, I love the Bull Durham movie, but I don't agree with Robbins political views. Petrosky could have handled it much differently and asked Robbins not to make it political. In light of the success of the war, most of the protesters have given up their protests. It could have been a nice celebration of America's pastime, baseball.
