"Robbins knows plenty about the lore and history of baseball. He grew up in New York City playing stickball, stoopball and softball in the park and made the first of his four trips to Cooperstown as a 10-year-old." Bet he doesn't know the name of the only man to steal first base.

"Robbins started the bullying when he tried to use his 'status' to influence our war stance." To what "bullying" are you referring?
To: new cruelty
I don't know what to think. My understanding was they decided to cancel this because Sarandon and Robbins would not agree not to make a political speech.
So what's the real story?

Robbins is an idiot, but the idea that he has any influence over the war is ludicrous. In fact, when people of his ilk speak up, it drives more people to actually support the war.

I'm not a Baseball player, but I play one on TV.
How can this guy even talk about the Hall of Fame when his sole accomplishment is to only act like a Baseball player in front of a camera?

"And YES I AM QUESTIONING THEIR PATRIOTISIM!" And, thankfully, you live in America where you have that right. But please explain why the patriotism of all these people can be questioned when the patriotism of those who spoke out against Clinton's military actions is above rerpoach.

Don't go to DU and bad mouth these folks or Michael Moore. You'll get kicked out. Those DU folks are way too much into hollywood hero worship. Made me want to puke. They don't want to discuss crap, they all just sit around and give each other these big cyber hugs.

The bullying I'm referring to is his use of the media and his name to whine and bitch about the war.
Neither you nor I would be quoted in papers the way he and his commie wife are.

Please, if you want to support the Baseball Hall of Fame, you can buy a
membership. A one year individual membership is $40, while a child membership is $20. There are other levels to suit.
I just bought a child membership for my son's birthday.
If that doesn't suit you, please send an e-mail of support.

Only one is recognized as having done so.
Germany Schaefer. One other did it before steals were recorded so it is in dispute.

"And to politicize
baseball The Oscars, the American Music Awards, etc. etc. is to violate the spirit of what it's all about."
Turnabout is fair play. The birds have come home to roost.

They don't want to discuss crap, they all just sit around and give each other these big cyber hugs. Their disconnect from reality is amazing. There's pretty much unanimity that the Jessica Lynch rescue was a set up.
I went over this morning to see what they had to say about the CNN-Eason Jordan editorial. It looks like it wasn't even posted, let alone discussed.

Baseball's place in American life, while hardly as prominent as it was once, still matters. During World War II, President Roosevelt ordered the games to go on
Republican Ted Williams sacrificed his own glory at playing this kids' game to fight for America... twice. If he had stayed home he could have racked up even more runs and records but he saw a bigger picture.
It's America's Passtime, not America's Profession.

I couldn't believe that I got the boot so soon. They love their Michael Moore over there. While I have butted heads with a few folks around here from time to time. There has always been a free discussion of ideas.
I wanted to see the other side, I had no idea that it was that bad. I'm amazed.

Tim Robbins should speak out. But it is his responsibility to learn about the issues, become educated on what they are talking about too. It is one thing to admit you are stupid and made a mistake based on that stupidity, but to now say the Iraq War is still wrong after fearing about torture not reported by CNN!
President Bush finally stood up to this terrible Tyrant Sadamm.
Any Artists now supporting such Free Speech Of Ignorance is not reflecting on their own choice of sponsorships. And every contract has a clause that lets a Company or Organization to remove itself without damages should such Artists cause such damaging public images to themselves or their sponsor!
A Democracy Cannot Function Unless It Has A Well-Educated Electorate!
Tim Robbins and Susan Saradon were not educated enough to speak out on what this issue and they know it now! Rather admit they are wrong, they choose to remain stupid and attack anyone who labels them as such. The only problem with their status now is that Truth is a Complete Defense to Defamation of Characters.
Tim and Susan just don't look stupid today but are remain stupid of their own, by their own and for their own choice.
If they want to make amends go to CUBA today and condemn Castro for torturing critics!
