You obviously didn't click the link to look at the picture of the Ipswich "River" in Massachusetts. If a dry river bed disturbs you, for heaven's sake never set foot west of the Mississippi.

The Ipswich "River" is at best a creek less than twenty miles from the ocean and New England has been in a 4/5 year drought that just might have been broken by this winter's snow pack.
Give me a ping in August and we'll see how the Ipswich is doing.
While water shortages may be a local issue, I seem to remember from my high school freshman science course (45 years is a long time ago) that there is no less or more water than there has ever been, that the form it's in may change (liquid, solid, etc.), and the place it's in may change, but it's all still here.
I think this is alarmism in the Malthusian tradition.

The place is usually a tidal mud flat. Good duck hunting in Newbury though. With all of the snow, and as I look out of my window, rain, the bugs should have a good year.
