Hollywood celebs may not quite be pro-Saddam, but there's one tyrant they love.

Friday, April 11, 2003 12:01 a.m.

Thousands of jubilant Iraqis, ready for a brand-new beat, dance in the street to celebrate the toppling of a brutal dictator whose tyranny has lasted 24 years but not 24 hours more. Preoccupied with the dramatic image of a noose around Saddam's neck as he is dragged to the ground in Baghdad's al-Fardous square (a 20-foot metal statue of Saddam, that is), the world largely overlooks the news of another dictator, Cuba's Fidel Castro, so far besting the Iraqi tyrant's run by 20 years and counting.

Not that I give the Hollywood crowed the credit for figuring this out but knowledgable liberals understand that if Bush gets tough on Castro, he pretty much locks up Florida in 04.

Andy Spahn, a Spielberg rep at Dreamworks, said that the director was in pre-production and could not be reached for comment. Mr. Spahn went on to say, though, that the recent crackdown had been "provoked" by James Cason, a U.S. diplomat in Havana, who is reported to have met with Cuban dissidents in their homes in February.

Which is exactly analogous to saying that the Treaty of Versailles provoked the Holocaust.

... and from another thread, Castro just executed 3 "hijackers" who were simply trying to escape the island, like thousands of others.

From arrest to trial to execution took about 1 week.

Methinks there may have been a bit of injustice here.

And people like Carter and Chomsky apologize for this f-----g Tyrant...

Thanks for posting the article. At least I am not alone in feeling such anger at Fidel Castro.

And so many people want to lift the embargo? I say tighten it! Arrest every single American who goes to Cuba illegally and close the loopholes.

Its isn't just the clebes that love Castro and his muderous regime in Cuba.

Prominent writer Robert Scheer co authored a book supporting the dictatorship in Cuba.

The Los Angels Times also is supportive of the execution of the three men that tried to come to freedom as well.

ROBERT SCHEER'S national column appears in the Los Angeles Times every Tuesday and is distributed by Creators Syndicate to more than 20 metropolitan dailies across the United States.

So Ceators syndicate and the 20 news agencies are in support of dictatorships that supress freedoms and murder those that try to flee.
