A Jewish civil rights organization and some Alexandria Democrats have criticized Rep. James P. Moran Jr. (D-Va.) for suggesting at a recent party meeting that a major American pro-Israel lobbying group will raise $2 million and "take over" efforts to unseat him next year.
In comments likely to prolong controversy over Moran's views toward Israel and U.S. Jewish groups and constituents, the seven-term incumbent said the American Israel Public Action Committee (AIPAC) has begun organizing against him and will "direct a campaign against me and take over the campaign of a Democratic opponent," according to notes taken by a person in attendance and corroborated by three others.

Moran does it again! This time in front of Democrats who said nothing when he spun his wacko theories about Israel and Jewish Americans. Frustrating but I bet these same folks will vote for him again. Kind of like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders. In the end, Moran will win the Democratic nomination. If the Republicans were a serious party, they would challenge this buffoon.

One would think that efforts would be made to unseat KKK member Bobby Byrd who is more of a power than Moran. What committees does Moran impact on that he feels that "special groups" are after him?

I don't know (or care) much about the Moran situation but what he expects from AIPAC is exactly what AIPAC is famous for. There are a considerable number of ex-Congresspeople, including such notables in their day as Senators Charles Percy and William Fulbright, who were defeated by outside money organized by AIPAC being poured into their states or districts by the millions. A number of House members have met that fate. So it's hardly fantasy that they would do the same to Moran, but I have no knowledge that they will.

He is a very nondescript in congress, never amounted to much. But every vote counts, and the 8th district deserves representation. I don't mind mediocrity, but Moran would have to climb several levels to reach that lofty status.
And Byrd is another one who should be challenged. I love the reference to the bloviating gasbag as Senator Sheets.

Don't forget John Warner, the "republican" the dems love too much to run anybody against. That's your basic definition of a one-party system.
