I am an Objectivist, by the way, so I see no fundamental incongruency between Rand's philosophy and the facts of reality. However, the concept of "objectivity" had existed prior to the emergence of Rand's philosophy and refers to the methods by which one obtains an understanding of the absolute facts of reality. What the precise nature of these facts is is open to discourse and interpretation (for example I would disagree with a theist on the existence of a supreme being). However, it is always possible to come to agreement given a commitment to objectivity on both sides. Relativism, on the other hand, rejects that commitment by portraying various perceptions as inherently at odds with each other, and, additionally, possessing naught but an arbitrary basis. Under a relativist perception, whatever the majority paradigm is, the individual must unquestioningly submit to it.

Actually, I am a admirer of Rand, having read most of her works.
