San Francisco, CA - On April 12th, The Global Security Institute will honor Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi with the 2003 Alan Cranston Peace Award for her critical role in promoting nuclear disarmament, international peace, human rights, and gender equity.

Please join actors Pierce Brosnan and Peter Coyote, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs Jayantha Dhanapala, and special guests in honoring Congresswoman Pelosi.

In a time of human awakening, historic uncertainty, international crisis and threats to our cherished democracy we offer you a chance to celebrate and support the dedication of those working for peace and disarmament around the world.

The Gala dinner will be the first time Congresswoman Pelosi is honored in San Francisco since being chosen Democratic Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives.

K, which nation has dimantled their nuke stockpile, what war has she helped end, who civil rights has she helped restore and where have women, previously treated as lower class, are now equal?

Just as I thought...a lib "feels good" award.

Alan Cranston Peace Award

Really?

First this thief robbed the families of the dead in California, then he got into elected politics and robbed California taxpayers and then moved on to the US congress and ripped off US taxpayers.

Not only is this award an insult to common sense but also embarrasing that a California citizen actually accepted the award.

one of my very favorite lines ever comes from a magazine piece on cranston's run for president a couple decades ago: "Loudspeakers were blaring the theme from Chariots of Fire, but the candidate, pale and cadaverous, looked more like ET."

I have to admit I know nothing about the man- but a google result that's topped by antiwar.com, berkley.edu and commondreams.org speaks volumes.

Hmmmm? An award for promoting nuclear disarmament ...?? Really ...?? She supported Saddam ... who had a secret (and now found) nuclear facility - with rad readings off the charts ...?? How ridiculous can these people get - congratulating themselves of NON-ACHIEVEMENTS!!

Guess Pierce Brosnan gets scratched off my list ...!!
