Troops Find Possible Evidence of Weapons of Mass Destruction

BAGHDAD, Iraq — U.S. troops on Thursday said they may have found evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq -- what is possibly a stash of weapons-grade plutonium at an Iraqi nuclear facility and an air-conditioned truck that may be a mobile bioweapons lab.

U.S. Marines may have found weapons-grade plutonium in a massive underground facility discovered beneath Iraq's Al Tuwaitha nuclear complex.

Coalition forces were investigating radioactive material found at the site, embedded reporter Carl Prine of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review told Fox News. The complex is operated by the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission and is located south of Baghdad's suburbs.

Two preliminary tests suggested the material may be weapons-grade plutonium, but officials said further testing is necessary before that can be confirmed.

And Fox News' Rick Leventhal reported that the Marines he is embedded with -- the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines -- may have found a mobile biological weapons lab around Baghdad.

Does anyone know whatever happened to the materials they found in the Ag warehouse earlier, that reportedly made some folks sick?

Tests taken at the site showed traces Sarin and "blistering agents" (i.e. mustard), but they were supposedly flying samples somewhere for extensive testing.

Any updates?

FWIW, I know the embedded reporters gotta print this stuff, in hopes they can scoop the "big smoking gun", but I'm getting awfully tired of "may have found..." stories that don't pan out or are never heard from again.

The real question isn't what they found, but at what cost? The UN inspectors were well on their way to illeminating all WMD from Iraq, and this with the world's help. Bush's cowboy instinct wanting to go at it alone just meant a lot of innocent children had to die in the process and that America, now isolated from the rest of the civilized world will have to pay the entire bill, which rose substantialy by going to war.

I don't know if I could come up with a link any longer, but it was reported that more testing proved that the chemicals were pesticides, and that the symptoms of the Marines were caused by heat exhaustion.

You simply do not have any idea what you are talking about. The inspectors were never more than a bad joke, misled and bamboozled by the Iraqis at every turn and undercut by the weasles on the Security Council whenever they began to make some minimal progress.

I had a link to remarks by inspectors proving this, but I have been having trouble finding it again. Nevertheless, it remains the truth.

I fear that you are nothing more than a "useful idiot" of the left.

Oh, and by the way, in view of your professed concern for "the children", what do you think your suggested policies would have done for the thousands of 4, 5, and 6 year old children held in brutal conditions in Saadam's children's prisons?

Your sarcasm is couched in rather droll terms I must say.

How about a sarcasm alert?

By the way, 7 and 8 were not there when I composed by reply...

Obviously you just don't get it. Stick around here though, and you might get "illeminated" yourself...that means your might learn a few things if I get the gist of your spelling.
