Abner Doubleday, who is credited with inventing baseball, was a staunch Republican (and as a Civil War general was briefly in command of the Union forces on the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg), so baseball is in fact a "Republican sport". Non-Republicans are free to play the game and pretend to in motion pictures, but they should respect the Patriotism and dedication to the defense of liberty of the game's founder and always remember that there is no crying or whining in baseball.

I guess Robbins is not tied to the Democrat party. I saw this story on the ESPN website which basically consists of nothing more than liberal sports writers. I think ESPN stands for the Entertainment and Sports Progressive Network.
