United States Special Operations forces sabotaged Kirkuk-Banias pipeline cutting flow of illegal oil exports smuggled through Syria.
Damascus notifies buyers that 2003 supply has been diminished by 40pc, equal to 240,000 barrels per day-exactly the quantity that Iraq previously pumped through.

Another pipeline in violation of the sanctions and the oil for food program that put 2 million dollars a day directly into Saddams pocket.

I hear Hackworth spewing on Hannity Radio now. Seems to be disliking Rummy.

They also blew up the 500,000 Chinese troops standing on top of the pipeline. DEBKA. Sheesh.

Well, that Haifa pipeline is looking better. :) Still, it goes thru syria, might have to build a new route.
DEBKA is pretty good on things about Syria. Like the "Latakia Villas" story for the Iraqi leadership. Also, very early they talked about Iraqi WMD into Syria. Just gotta ignore their Russian ICBMs in Afghanistan type stories...

Hopefully they loaded the pipe up with dog crap and dung and made sure the 'plug' made it to the Syria transfer point before shutting off the flow.

"Syria is looking like it's just going to have to be taught a lesson." Rumsfelt has requested a meeting today (very unusual) at 5:00PM with some members of congress. My first thought was, SYRIA!

I read/heard about an oil pipeline to Syria last week.
Can't remember the details.
To: ewing
I find it very hard to believe that the US didn't notice a pipeline being built and either take it out or go to the UN long before the war.
To: Shermy
Hope sugar was pumping through it for the last three days.
To: mabelkitty
It was the same pipeline that Debka said was blown up about two weeks ago. Did not hapeen then and not now either. It was turned off, however.
