NEW YORK (AP) -- Stung by anti-war criticism from Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, the baseball Hall of Fame has canceled a 15th anniversary celebration of the film Bull Durham that was to feature the co-stars.

Hall president Dale Petroskey sent a letter to Robbins and Sarandon this week, saying the festivities April 26-27 at Cooperstown, N.Y., had been called off because of their remarks.

TOPICS: News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: antiwar; halloffame; robbins; sarandon
My Favorite Line:
Robbins said he remained "skeptical" of the war plans and told Petroskey he did not realize baseball was "a Republican sport."

Robbins proves he is fighting against the Republicans when he protests, not the war. Otherwise he would have worded his comment differently.

Good...maybe they'll start to realize if you babble at the mouth and insult the majority of Americans there is a price to pay!

I guess that most people will never figure out that these "actors" are only PRETENDING to be someone on the screen- Tim Robbins is not REALLY a baseball player, and Susan Sarandon does not own even a minor-league team. In short, they have nothing to do with baseball except for having appeared in a movie.
Also, John Wayne was not REALLY a Green Beret, nor a Marine Sergeant, nor anything but a very successful actor-probably a nice guy, patriotic, etc. But, I do not understand hero worship of folks who did nothing but put on make-up and say someone else's lines in front of a camera.
Not a big fan of actors, anyway. To them, "Phony" is a compliment.

Baseball is an AMERICAN sport, Mr. Robbins....all the more reason
why you and your anti-American "life partner" were cancelled.
