I searched the title and every word in it. Nothing turned up, so here's hoping it's not a duplicate.
Best wishes to Dr. Atkins for a speedy recovery.

"He was negotiating the snow and ice and failed in that negotiation"
This goober needs to learn to speak as frankly as the good Dr. Atkins. Prayers sent his way...

Sorry to hear this.

This guy obviously didn't do well at PR-Flack school - what a crappy analysis of the situation. It's like saying the space shuttle suffered a high altitude, energetic disassembly.

24 minutes... I knew it wouldn't take long.

Real doctors, and real scientists, are rare. Dr. Atkins is one such. May he recover fully.

Wow, I hope he recovers! He's a good man, and is just now getting the respect he's deserved after 30 years.

``He was negotiating the snow and ice and failed in that negotiation,'' Rothstein said. The French must have been involved in the negotiations. That would explain the failure.
Hope the good Dr. makes a full recovery.

Here's an additional report from the
Atkins Website. No update on his status beyond this.
Dr. Robert C. Atkins Hospitalized After Accident
New York, NY, April 9, 2003--Early Tuesday morning April 8th, on his daily walk to work, Dr. Robert C. Atkins fell on the sidewalk outside his office and suffered injuries to his head. The dramatic snowstorm that hit New York City the day before along with the unusually cold temperatures left streets and sidewalks particularly dangerous. Fortunately, his colleague at The Atkins Center, Dr. Keith Berkowitz, was arriving at work at the same time and was able to rush Dr. Atkins to Cornell University Medical Center. We learned last night that as a result of the fall, Dr. Atkins did suffer severe head trauma and required surgery. He is currently under medical observation. Once he is discharged from the hospital, Dr. Atkins will continue his convalescence at home, under the care of Dr. Berkowitz.

Low-carbohydrate diet promoter Dr. Robert Atkins was hospitalized Wednesday with severe head injuries after falling on an icy sidewalk, his spokesman said. I'm sure all the Atkins-haters will say, "See? Low-carb diets ruin your motor coordination!"
