If he had gotten rid of WMD, and the inspections proved that, then he would have been in power for the rest of his life, only to have his even more twisted son rise to power after him. Who knows how many countless lives would have been ruined and lost.

This is patently untrue. President Bush cared so much about hte inspection process that he increased the number of inspectors exponentially -- 20,000 inspectors from the 3rd ID alone!
