... Wittgenstein, Toynbee, Burke, D'Annunzio, Feyerabend, Evola et al are conservatives
You posted my profile somehow hoping to undermine my position, or implying that my position is somehow undermine by who I am, what I do etc.?

Apparently the irony escaped you, ancient one. This is precisely what you accuse our government of doing to our Arab brothers and sisters. Please try to avoid contradicting yourself so glaringly.

"No need to thank me for the civics lesson." -Asclepius- No need to think you'll get any, as you gave no 'lessons', -- just laughs.
I failed to reach you with the light of sound reasoning, yes. But the loss is yours.

What do you think the people named Hilter did?

I wouldn't know. Such isn't exactly synomous with this case, though.

Here's your consistency, sonny-boy.
It's still one person, one case, no matter how many times our friend is inconvenienced. It is hardly evidence of a government conspiracy to deprive you or anyone else of your rights, duck-bite guy. Forgive me if I require that your evidence support your claims--which, at the moment, it does not. But please try again. Everyone is capable of growth. I have faith in you.

I posted your self-puffery to show how ridiculous you are, and why we laugh at you.

I've 'accused' no one of anything. - Save you of being laughably conceited. Ironic you can't see that.

Ah. So it was simply a personal attack and not an attempt to contribute to the discussion at all. I admire your candor. But you may want to review the Freerepublic FAQ etc. But if it makes you feel better about yourself, please, attack away.

And my laughable conceit has to do with what, precisely? You may want to consider actually contributing to the discussion. Just a thought.
Whatever. - I'll live.
Indeed. But what did Socrates say about your kind of life?

Oh, please... my sister and her husband pulled over to the side of the highway in the midst of a 10 hour drive (had 4 small children and one was coughing on a snack). State cop pulls over to see what the problem was and then nicely asked to see brother-in-law's license. It turned out he happened to share the name of a wanted fugitive in that state for murder/arson and he was taken in to the station for questioning and to verify his identity. It wasted the whole afternoon with his wife and four young, hungry, bored, cranky children stuck in the police waiting room and missing the family reunion they had been traveling to.

He's Italian, conservative and never blamed the cops for a moment...

Ah. So it was simply a personal attack and not an attempt to contribute to the discussion at all.

It was a remark to draw attention to your hypocrisy. Nearly every post on this thread, you have made personal slurs, and conceited remarks.

'AB' is doing a great job on your socalled 'contributiions'.

Indeed. But what did Socrates say about your kind of life?

I suspect that if you actually knew, you would have attempted to spout off about it. --

Cool! I love it when the little ones admit defeat by abandoning their arguments, falling back on personal attacks as a fig-leaf for their shattered dignity. I shall move on to more interesting players. Thank you and play again anytime.

You think? He sort of fell all to little pieces early on. Rather reminds of an Iraqi division on the run. But maybe he can regroup. One never knows.

Indeed. Apparently it was too short for you to stay in school. No big deal. I'm sure you're as happy as you can possibly be in this incarnation. I wish you all the best, boredom guy.

I suspect that is your real agenda here my boy. - To play your conceited games.
Have fun now, as you will soon run out of those who are interested.

Yeah? Well, I have yet to shake you loose, little one. And you are hardly unique, believe me. I blame our public schools. So we shall see.

After all, can you prove that they are not simply making an innocent mistake?
Which is why we have courts. Only the burden of proof is on them, not us. As long as means of redress or relief exist--e.g. an independent judiciary, ballot boxes etc.--I will tend to see these as technical, administrative, operational questions, not political questions.

You've given me no grounds to believe otherwise. In fact, quite the contrary. Normally I feel sort of average. Next to you I feel like a super genius. Thank you for that.

"Under what circumstances does an American have to show his ID?"
OK. Good point--good question etc. Going to a shopping mall, probably not. Boarding an aircraft (where the stakes are somewhat higher), I would probably agree that we should be asked to show ID etc.
If you ask me, this guy should be able to travel where he wants without telling anybody his name. If they don't know his name, no problem. Do you agree with that?
Wow. That's a really good question. In principle, I think I agree with you. In practice, however, how are you going to book a hotel room or a flight or use a credit card to pay for a meal in a restaurant without using your name? We give up our names all the time, wherever we are, for any number of reasons. Is the issue then to whom we are giving up our names?

I suppose I'm unresolved on this issue. I'm not trying to be obtuse; I simply haven't thought it through, at least not as you've posed the question.
